My mother, Emilia, and I were introduced to Carmela in April 1965 at Dick's Supermarket on 4th and Younger Ave. in San Jose by a clerk that worked there. The rest was history, my mom and Carmela became good friends and spent many hours in the kitchen sharing Italian recipes! Carmela was very happy when her sister and brother moved to San Jose. Carmela, like my mother, loved family and raised us knowing that Family is the best thing on Earth! I am sorry Carmela  is gone but I am happy that Carmela and my mother are together again in Heaven.  God bless them both always! Love to you all! Kevin & Rosalba Pezzaniti & Family

Condolences from Aunt Sarina Maimone in Sicily.

I have many memories of my grandma Carmela, but my fondest and happiest were her famous pasta dinners. For those of you who didn’t know my grandma her love language was cooking and although she may not have always said “I love you” it was always expressed in her cooking and you knew it. She loved how cooking brought her family together to fill our bellies and put a smile on our faces. I can still hear her famous line “mangia, mangia.” I remember I would walk to her house for weekly dinner nights with my husband. We would all look forward to it, especially my dog Bernice, to which I still can’t believe she would feed pasta to the dog. I laugh just thinking about it now. 
 I can attest that my grandma was the best Italian cook there was. I have even travelled all across Italy and no one could hold a candle to her cooking. Whenever, I would have Italian food I would say, “it still doesn’t taste like grandma Carmela’s,” because she was simply the best. However, it was not her cooking that made her extraordinary; it was the love and protectiveness she had for her family. My grandma was always there for you no matter what, wanting to make sure you were safe and happy. Although she is no longer here with us, I know she will continue to watch over and protect her family just as should would if she were here. I may not get anymore phone calls from her but I know she will always be with me. I will cherish the memories I have of her and will never forget how much of an impact she had not only in my life but in the lives of others as well. May she rest in heavenly peace. 

We are honored to take care of you in laughter and tears. We will always treasure the memories that we have shared together. You will be missed but you will always be remembered in our hearts. May you find peace in your heart joining with our Creator!

With sincere condolences to you maria and your family. I do have fond memories of growing up living next door to you that I will cherish. Like hiding behind your mons chair when she would watch dark shadows. I remember running back and forth with you in front of the TV and when a scarry sound from the show came on me and you would run behind the chair she would sit in watching the show. There are many more. I truly am sorry for your loss maria. May God comfort you in this time of loss. Sincerely your friend.

I’ve known Carmela since I was a child. Marie her daughter is one of my oldest and dearest friends. Carmela’s love for Marie showed with her being protective of her. Carmela always knew where Marie was and what she was doing when we were kids. For instance, Marie could come to my house but could only sit in front of my house which was in view from her house. One time Marie went inside of my house and Carmela was at my front door wanting Marie outside so she could see her. I have so many funny stories of Carmela watching over Marie that I can’t add to this message because there isn’t enough space. Carmela will be missed.
