Dan died peacefully on Sunday afternoon at 91. Born and raised in San Jose, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Virginia Donatelli in 1949, and they raised their four sons in the house they built on 31st Street. They celebrated their 60th anniversary two years ago. He owned San Jose Sheetmetal with his brother, Joe, and worked in sheetmetal for over 40 years. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and exploring mountains and deserts of the West. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, his sons Dan Jr. (Rich Machado), Ken, Chuck (Su), and Mike (Annika), and six grandchildren: Chris, Paul, Nick, Corinne, William and Gina. Services will be held Friday, November 4, at 11 am, Lima Family Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy or other environmental organizations.
