Delphine "Del" Fontana

Delphine Fontana (Del) passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 20, 2019. Del was born and raised in Santa Clara and is survived by John, her loving husband of 66 years. Del was a devoted mother of Steve (Lisa) and Stefani Fontana, grandmother of Scott (Nicole) and Kevin and great grandmother of Kennedy as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews and a sister of Marlene Vaughn. Del was active in the Santa Clara Women’s Club, the Miss Santa Clara Pageant, the Santa Clara Auxiliary and the Women’s Golf Clubs of Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. She was also an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. Del loved golf and tennis and was on the Santa Clara High School Tennis Team. In her later years, she took up golf with her husband and loved to play bingo.

Del was crowned Miss Santa Clara in 1947 and Miss Santa Clara County Fair in 1950. Del met her future husband John in 1950 and married two years latter on October 5th, 1952 upon his return from the Korean War. Del was a member of Saint Clare’s Church where she was baptized and married. Del is preceded in death by her siblings Manuel, Mary, Celeste and John who are all truly missed.

A visitation for "Del" will be held Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Clare Parish, 941 Lexington St., Santa Clara, CA 95050. Entombment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
