Efigenia "Effie" Rodrigues

Resident of Santa Clara

Surrounded by her loving family, Effie passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Effie was born in Santa Cruz, Madeira, Portugal. She married her beloved husband, Willie “Bill” Rodrigues in 1953 and immigrated to the United States. Thereafter they resided in Santa Clara Valley. Effie was preceded in death by her husband Bill with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage. Effie worked at Container Corporation of America for over 25 years prior to retiring. She loved to travel and was happiest when tending to her garden filled with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. She enjoyed the companionship of her dogs for many years. Effie loved family gatherings, especially holidays. She was an amazing cook and happily shared her wonderful skills in the kitchen with her nieces, Carol, Terri & Gail. Effie is survived by her sisters Rosa Silva, Sandra Bettencourt, Ines de Andrade, sister-in-law Mary Jane Souza, brother-in-law Anthony Rodrigues, and many nieces and nephews. Though having no children of her own Tia Effie was treasured as a mother by her nieces Carol, Terri and Gail, nephews Tony and Manuel, and her niece Rita who preceded her in death. She was cherished as a grandmother by her nieces’ children. Effie possessed a tender heart and extended kindness to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 from 6-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Mass will be at 11AM Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Saint Clare Parish, 941 Lexington St. Santa Clara. Interment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
