Resident of Santa Clara
Florence lived her entire life in the city of Santa Clara. She was born in Santa Clara on June 12, 1921 to John and Virginia Andrade. She married her late husband Gerald Anthony Ennes in 1954 and lived the rest of her life in the home in Santa Clara that they established together. Florence passed away in that house in the early morning hours of November 7, 2012 at the age of 91.
Florence was preceded in death by her brother John Andrade, and her sisters Mary Hummel and Edith Milazzo. She was a devoted mother to her five adoring daughters: Geri Sunderlin (Charlie), Martha Ennes (Bob Callahan), Gina Hale (Tom), Jackie Ennes, and Joan Coffman. She leaves her three cherished grandsons; Anthony Ashton (Lainey), Joshua Hale, and Jeffrey Hale. In addition, she leaves her cat Toahla Bianca who was her constant companion and friend over the last 14 years. She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews; including her sister Edith’s children whom she helped tend to after her sister’s early passing. They are Carol Gioia, Janet Aldinger, Paul Milazzo, David Milazzo, and Laurie Flores. Our Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed the time spent around the table with the family that loved her. She was a religious woman devoted to her church. She had a love of travel. As a young woman, working cutting apricots in the canneries of Santa Clara, she dreamt of travel as she watched the trains taking the fruit to market. In her youth, she took a bus trip across the U.S. to New York City. She traveled twice to Europe and was able to visit the birth places of her parents in Madeira Island, Portugal. As a family, we took many trips in our camper and trailer to the state and national parks in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. She was a woman with a fine appreciation for the beauty of this world. Friends and family are invited to visit on Mon, Nov 12 from 6 to 9pm with a Rosary Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tues, Nov 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Justin Church, 2655 Homestead Rd. in Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Justin Parish Community, Pathways Hospice in Sunnyvale, or the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, would be appreciated.
