

Jaime Andrade Braga, whose quick wit and passion for story telling kept friends and family laughing for decades, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in Santa Clara due to health complications. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Braga was born on March 20, 1948, in Vila Do Porto, Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, to parents Antonio and Irene and was one of four children. Jaime worked in construction with his father building homes and doing electrician work before serving three years in the Portuguese military. He then married wife, Maria Teresa, on June 20, 1971, in their homeland.
Mr. Braga and his wife moved from Portugal to the United States in 1974 and lived in Sunnyvale, Calif., with their first daughters, Carmen and Irene. Together the couple had an additional daughter, Sandra and eventually settled in Santa Clara. In 2010 the couple moved to San Jose following the passing of Mr. Braga’s parents.
Jaime worked as a machinist for 33 years in the United States before retiring from the trade in 2007. At home he loved to work in his garden; cheer on Benfica, his favorite soccer team in Portugal; tell stories and jokes to friends and family; shop with his wife; and keep tabs on current affairs and politics in both in the United States and his home country. He also enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and caring for the couples' two dogs, Daisy and Dixie.
Mr. Braga was preceded in death by mother, Irene Braga; father, Antonio Tavares Braga; sister, Maria Helena Braga; and brother, Antonio Carlos Braga. He is survived by wife, Maria Teresa Braga; daughter, Carmen Braga; daughter, Irene Lourenco and her husband, Orivalde; daughter Sandra Aguirre and her husband. Ben; five grandchildren, Christian (17), Jaden (12), Maya (9), Alexa (6) and Antonio (5). He’s also survived by sister, Ann Seiver and many other relatives.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support that they have received. They hope that people can find peace in knowing that he is now at rest.
