Dear Annie and Mary and families,
     I still think about your mom and wonder how you guys are doing.  I'd like to make a donation to one of the organizations mentioned in her obituary.  Do either of you have a preference or a suggestion as which to choose?  If not, I'll just pick one, no problem, they all seem to do good and needed work.  Believe me, love never dies and you are still very connected to your mom (and grandma).  Through a medium, Pete shares amazing stories with Frank about the afterlife. From the early years of Parochial School right through 12th grade, Janet, you have been part of my life through happy and not-so-happy times...even though you were behind me by one year!  I cannot ever recall having a bad word between us.  You were such an easy person to know...agreeable, pleasant, kind, considerate...get the idea? We were each others maid-of-honor.  When I was looking for something borrowed, you lent me your wedding veil. It was an unhappy moment for me when you moved to California, but I need not have worried, nothing came between our visits across the country or our weekly chats.  This past summer when you spent two weeks with me were the best -- we sure had a great time didn't we?  I have been with you every minute since then, in spirit and am sorry I wasn't able to make the trip to California this one last time.  There is a huge hole in my heart and an enormous void in my life.  I will love you and miss you forever.

I met Jan through my friend, Valerie Taylor, and knew her for a short time only. We were co-travelers  on a trip to Florence  in 2012. I will never forget her  kindness, patience and generosity as well as her wry wit. She was a sweet person and I will miss her.

Let's go back to 1956! I am from Beloit WI which is close to Janesville. Janet and I attended an airline school in Minneapolis, where we met, and were hired by Capital Airlines the same day. We went through their prep course in Washington DC, and got jobs in reservations in Chicago that same fall and lived together for several months. We had a lot of laughs together and corresponded through the years, mostly Christmas cards. She wrote about the girls and grandchildren, and it was evident she had a loving family. I was so glad I knew her at least for a short time. Janet (Kelsey) Hahn

Dear Cousin Janet - I'm so glad my sisters got to visit with you in December, and wish I could have been there. I'll always remember your warmth and your easy, hearty laugh. You will be missed!

Dear Jan, you've been one of my best friends for many years, since we met at dialysis.  You were always so generous with your time.  Never too much trouble to help a friend out, whether a ride to the airport, dentist, etc.  I will always remember that you chauffeured me around, after I broke my arm, keeping me in touch with my work and clients.  I thank you so much for that.
I admired your spirit.  You always loved traveling around, eating out, enjoying life.  Our trips have been very special.  Victoria BC, river cruise through E.Europe and the last big trip to Florence, Italy.  It has been a privilege to know you and share in your life.  Love always.

Jan, you've had a thousand plus friends, and every one of us have been blessed with your true friendship.  You have been the best friend I have ever had in my entire 67 years of life here on earth.  Thank you forever.  I miss you, and I love you dearly.

In 2012 I was part of the Florence travel group with Jan.  She was a fantastic traveler, loving every moment, every adventure.  I admired her spirit and enthusiasm. She had as much fun as any of us, even when she stayed home, watched the street life from the window and dined downstairs in our personal cafe. I will remember her smile and enjoyment of life.

We were more like sisters than sister-in law. We had a lot of good times together.  A few years ago we took a road trip together, my kids called us Thelma & Louise.  We saw a lot,& made it to Wisc.  I will really miss her. Susie

So very grateful that Sharon and I got to stop by in December and visit with Janet (and Annie and Mary)  I always found Janet very easy to talk to and laugh with.  I appreciated her keeping in touch over the years and I admired her curiosity about people and places, about life.  A kind soul who is making Heaven brighter.

The pictures are so precious, expressing the love you generously  gave and the love you humbly received. 
Never too busy to talk, always remembering birthdays, calling just to say hi, and keeping all the family up too speed on all the family, and traveling long distances to do so.
You truly were the hub, connecting the Ulbrichs, through their migrations and  growth of multi -generations, filling a need we didn't even know we needed. I will miss you Janet, you know I will. Who was it you left in charge of this high calling....? One of the older cousins, of course,  I think you said? Jan was a very dear neighbor and friend.  Our families celebrated many holidays and birthdays together as one big happy "family". 

I crossed paths with Jan in later years when I was dealing with Varian Associates.  She was always a pleasant person to talk to even if it was about work.

I hope the family will find comfort in knowing how much Jan was loved and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
