John Walter Jelesko, born on April 21, 1925, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021 in San Jose at the age of 95. He joined the Navy before his senior year at Fremont High School and served on the USS Rixey during WWII as an electrician, and this became his lifelong career choice. He was married to Alma Jelesko his loving wife, for 47 years and they had three children. After John’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling. He played the accordion throughout his life, was an usher at Transfiguration Catholic Church, a member of the IBEW, the Fremont High School Alumni Association and of the Sons of Retirement.
He was preceded in death by Alma Jelesko, his father Anton Jelesko and mother Mary Jelesko Norton, an infant sister Eleanor Jelesko, brothers Augustine Jelesko and Anton F. E. Jelesko and sister, Catherine Rackley. He is survived by his daughters Elaine (Steve) Cuadros, Sharon (Keith) Emory and son John G. (Isabel) Jelesko and his grandchildren Justin Janavicius, Heather (Luke) Griffis, Kristen Emory, Jason Emory, Eli Jelesko and Daniel Jelesko and great-grandchildren Hazel Griffis and Callie Griffis.
Our family wishes to thank Carolyn Crawford for her years of caregiving and friendship to Dad and to us. We also wish to thank all the people of Hospice of the Valley for their services and compassion to Dad and his family.
Due to the current times, there will be a small, private service.
