

He was born on August 21, 1937 in the Azores island of Flores. Jose served in the army at the age of 19 for two years before moving Terceira. He then began to work as a customs agent at the port of the island. At the age of 25, he met Filomena Bettencourt and fell in love. They were soon married in 1962 and were blessed with a son the year after who unfortunately passed away. In 1965, they were once again blessed with the birth of their son Tony. After 7 years living in Terceira, the family packed their bags and moved to Santa Clara, California. Later in life, Jose became a devoted grandfather to Victoria and Antonia.
Jose worked for an electronics company as a supervisor for 15 years. He enjoyed traveling across the world, whether it was on cruise ships, by plane, or by bus. Jose was a very giving person and gave many donations to POSS to help the Portuguese community in San Jose. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life. He was a very hardworking man and enjoyed helping others.
He was survived by his son Tony, granddaughters Victoria and Antonia, siblings Antonio, Adelide, Maria, Carolina, and many nephews and nieces. Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Filomena and son Antonio.
