Jun. 17, 1947 - Jul. 2, 2021
Santa Clara
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful and beloved wife and mother, Linda Ann Cambra, of Santa Clara, CA, on Friday, July 2, 2021. Linda died after a lengthy illness at home with her husband, Jack, by her side just two days short of her 56th wedding anniversary.
Born on June 17, 1947, to John Robert "Bob" and Louise Ann Floyd (née Schwarz) of Cleveland, OH, the family moved to Brisbane, CA, in 1953, settling into the Santa Clara area in the fall of 1954. Linda attended Buchser High School where she graduated in 1965. While in her junior year of high school, Linda ran into her future husband at an A&W drive-in restaurant in nearby Sunnyvale, CA. Thus began a long and winding road that saw the two lovebirds marry on July 4, 1965, a couple weeks after Linda's June graduation and her 18th birthday, and led them to assorted domiciles in Santa Clara, San Jose (where they purchased their first home), Milpitas for 25 years, and coming full circle, back into Santa Clara, CA (First, for 18 years in a tri-level townhouse starting in 1994, followed by a fixer-upper on Buchanan beginning in 2012).
After finishing high school and getting married, Linda and her legendary typing skills worked as a top-level executive assistant at Western Electric, Watkins-Johnson, and Samsung. After looking for a change she moved to sales representative with Samsung and finished up a long run at National Vitamin Company as a territory manager where she retired in 2018.
Linda was pre-deceased by her parents John "Bob" and Louise, her funny and talented stepfather, Hal Rebsom, her wonderful brother-in-law, Alverine Marseline, her loving sister-in-law, Beverly Abreu, her late mother-in-law, Francis Coelho (née Teresi) and her great nephew, Anthony Abreu.
Linda leaves behind her adoring children, Vince (Lee-Anne) and Tony, and her doting husband, Jack, as well as sisters, Joyce (Dan) and Gail (Gene), her sister-in-law, Geraldine, along with so many nieces and nephews. (Jodine, Johnny, Jack, Shelly, Manny, Carol, Ginger, Guy, and Sean), grandchildren Madison and Liam, and an adorable great-grandchild, Evelyn Grace. Linda will also be missed by extended family who lovingly called her grandma: Alma, Maria, Darleen and Chewy, and their children.
Linda enjoyed spending time with family, listening to her music loud, Barbara Streisand films, "Gone with the Wind", camping, and was endlessly supportive of her kids. Never known to say negative things - unless you count her favorite sayings, "We were born under a dark cloud" and "when it rains, it pours" - she would let her kids know that she wasn't a fan of their choice of attire by telling them, "You look comfortable..." She was her son, Vince's, biggest fan when he thought he would end up a rock star, and was one of Tony's best friends, talking to him several times most days. Taxiing the kids to all their sporting events and practices, was something Linda did without a single complaint, even if she didn't always understand the finer points of soccer, football and baseball. The only thing to really "split" the family up, was when Vince and Linda would attend Streisand movies, while Tony and Jack would head to some action fare. To a person, everyone who met Linda instantly liked her, and those who knew her adored her. She also had a special love for and bond with her husband's family, who looked at her as one of their own.
Linda was easily the best of her family quartet and will forever be loved and missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 24 at Saint Justin Church, 2655 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara, CA at 11:30 AM.
