I can hardly believe it has been two years since Aunt Margaret left us. Lou and I still miss her deeply, and her memories remains a cherished part of our lives. I often think back to when Aunt Margaret was our neighbor before marrying Uncle Manuel, and how later in life she would share stories of events she observed while watching me and my friends play from her window. These moments always brought warmth and laughter, reminding me of how she was truly one of the glues that held our family together. Her tales of family history, her supervision of our annual tamale making, her honesty in always speaking her mind, and above all, her unwavering love for family made a lasting impact.

Robbie, Randy, Karen, and the other cousins were more than just relatives—they were our closest friends growing up, and Aunt Margaret’s presence helped foster those bonds. I know many of our family misses her too, and I take comfort in knowing that we continue those family gatherings. Her spirit continues to inspire us all.

Still missing you. Best mother -in-law ever.

Teaching a new generation how to fill and fold.

My Aunt Margaret was a loving, generous, giving and caring presence in my life. When I was growing  up  she treated me like one of her own and I spent many happy times at Margaret and Manuel’s house hanging out with Robbie, Randy and Karen. We all had vivid imaginations and we would perform comedy skits and commercials for her to make her laugh. 
She usually had a smile on her face and never ever got mad. Even when I threw Robbie’s glasses into the canal at Grandma and Grandpa’s ranch in Mexico when I was young, I don’t remember her getting angry. Years later when we reminisced about it, she just smiled and laughed about it.   
I will be forever thankful to her for being our “Tamale Queen” who patiently taught the next two generations the art of making a damn good tamale. She welcomed everyone to the table and expertly guided us every step of the way. She knew the importance of carrying on family traditions and we are so fortunate to have had her as our mentor. 
 Margaret was also our family historian and I will miss hearing her stories. 
Thank you Aunt Margaret for so many wonderful memories.

Nina came for a visit just before the pandemic lockdown.

Growing up every party, every event, and almost every weekend included Nina Mitch and Uncle Manuel, Robbie, Randy, and Karen. We had poker nights, Friday night pizza, sleep overs, camping at the beach, fishing, ball games, bbq's...the adventures and memories are incredible!! 
When mom passed away Nina's love and support helped carry us through. We hope to share unconditional love in her spirit to Robbie, Randy, Karen, and all the family.

On a bday roadtrip we stopped in Modesto. Uncle Chon hadn't been well and mom wanted to visit. After a few memorable hours of geriatric silliness, it was time to go. On the way out Chon yelled at Nina, "Come here and give me a hug, I ain't gonna bite ya!" Without missing a beat, Nina replied: "Bite me? You don't even have any teeth."

My mom and Margaret worked together at La Rosa Beauty Salon on Alum Rock Ave starting in 1951. They shared true friendship til the end.
