

Marguerite “Margie” Toledo Del Prete was born in San Jose, California on June 28,1937. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Anthony “Tony” and Catherine “Katie” Toledo. She was the younger sister to her brother Tony.
Margie and her family lived on Harrison Street in Santa Clara surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Fremont Elementary School and then Santa Clara High School. After graduating from Santa Clara High School, she went to and graduated from
San Jose State majoring in recreation. Margie was one of the first people let alone a woman in her family to graduate from college. After graduation, Margie moved to Santa Rosa, CA and worked in recreation for the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Department.
Returning to Santa Clara, Margie spent the rest of her career working for the Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department. As recreation supervisor, Margie affected the lives of many young people, many of whom chose to have careers in recreation. So many of the people she worked with remained friends to this day.
Margie was a very social person and an avid tennis player and enjoyed going to the movies with her cousins and friends. Family was very important to Margie, and she enjoyed spending time with her extended family.
Margie was predeceased by her parents Tony and Katie Toledo, her brother Tony and her nephew Steve.
Margie is survived by her niece Kathy Toledo, her grandnephews Corey (Joy) and Collin Schwartz and her great-grandnieces Maia Magnolia and Cleo Marguerite Schwartz.
A celebration of life for Marguerite will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
