Marie Sobieda Gutierrez

Marie S. Gutierrez was born on May 5, 1926 in Del Rio, Texas. She moved to California in 1948 with her husband Nomberto Gutierrez and their two first born children. Marie worked for Del Monte Cannery in Quality Control for 52 years, until she retired at the age of 72. Marie worked nights and Nomberto worked days while raising their five children. After retiring, she played a very important role in the caring for and raising of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aside from spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play multiple sports, Marie loved to gamble. Her favorites included slot machines, lotto, and any sporting event pool. Luck was always on her side and her system of picking numbers and football squares made it fun for the whole family to enjoy with her. Marie is survived by her children, Dora Coca, JoElla Enix (Troy Enix), John Gutierrez (Ana Gutierrez), Simon Gutierrez (Marylou Gutierrez), two brothers, Eddie Martinez (Christina) and Ramon Martinez, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Nomberto Gutierrez, son Lefty Gutierrez and sister Ina M. Arrañaga. She passed away comfortably at home with family by her side on March 20, 2017. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 5-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., where the Funeral Service will also be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11AM.
