Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Marty passed away peacefully at the age of 93. He was born in Triggiano, Italy. He immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 14 when he and his mother were able to be reunited with his brother, Joe and father, Michael who had traveled to Chicago for better job opportunities. He started school there in the 2nd grade, mainly to learn English and proudly graduated 8th grade in just two years. He went on to Austin High School where he met the love of his life, Mary. After his time in the army, with combat duty in WWII, Marty and Mary married on February 3, 1946. They started their family in San Jose and eventually settled in Santa Clara for 60 years. Marty entertained many people as a musician and master of ceremonies at Lou’s Village in its early days. He went on to become a manager for 22 years at Hertz Rent-a-car. He bowled until he was 90 on his favorite league, was a loyal member of the Catholic men’s organization, Y.M.I. for over 45 years and a faithful parishioner at St. Justin Parish. He was the brother of Sisina and Joe both deceased and Antonio and Agatina. He is survived by his cherished wife of 68 years, Mary and his “dividends of life”, as he called them, his children, Lucille (Lowell, deceased) Morgin, Marty (Dolores), Angela (Gary) Evangelho, and Michele (Paul) O’ Gorman. Added “dividends” are his 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 10:00am-1:00pm at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Vigil will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 5:00pm at St. Justin Parish, 2655 Homestead Rd., Santa Clara, where a Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00am.
