

Paul Thomas Ayars died after a brief illness in San Jose on April 24, 2022 at the age of 83. Paul was born on July 20, 1938 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Thomas Larkin Ayars and Nathalea Snelson Ayars. Paul was a graduate of Grand Prairie High School, class of 1956. He completed one year of Russian at Geo. Washington University in Wash. D.C. He mustered out of the USN in 1964 as Seaman First Class after tours at Patuxent River Naval Air Station and Radio Barrigada, Guam and Pacific tours aboard the USS Hollister (DD788). For several years, he was an ET with Trans Pacific Communications at ocean undersea cable terminals on Guam and at San Luis Obispo, California and chief at ship to shore communications at Pt. Reyes Peninsula. After working as a facilitator with the Lifespring group, he resumed work in the telecommunications industry from which he retired. Paul Ayars had made his home for the previous 40 years in the Silicon Valley and was a diehard San Francisco 49ers fan. He was preceded in death by his parents of Maybank, Texas, sister Linda Scott Hartell of Kingsville Texas, beloved nephew Adam Scott of Kingsville, Texas, daughter Tamara Ayars, of Guam and son Jason Ayars of Dixon, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Paula Ayars of San Jose, and step son Michael DiTore (Raymond) of Santa Clara, daughter Megan Ayars of Ashland, Oregon, sons Paul Ayars of Bly, Oregon,and Peter Ayars of Dixon, Illinois, sister Lee Ann (Don) Stone of Grand Prairie, Texas and Mary Wright of Kingsville, Texas, granddaughter Brittany Ayars (Jon) Ormondroyd of Pacheco, Calif. and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Sunday, June 19th at 1:00 p.m. at the Campbell Community Center – Roosevelt Redwood Room, located at 1 W. Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008.
