Stanley J Spence was reunited with God in heaven along with his wife Nadine, son Greg, daughter Phoebe and parents Anna and Joseph Szepieniec on January 26, 2022. Born April 8, 1927, in Lublin, Wisc., he was raised on a dairy farm with 6 brothers and sisters.
After serving as an Army Sergeant in the WWII occupation of Germany, he graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and received his Electrical Engineering degree. He worked for Bendix in Kansas City, MO in 1952, where he met his wife Nadine at a dance. They moved to California, where he worked a 31-year career at Lockheed Missiles and Space Corp.
He is survived by his sister Rena, brother Joe (Barbara), along with a large, loving extended family of relatives. He was a beloved dad and father-in-law to Edward, Therese, Steve (Suzanne), Greg, Elizabeth (Ward), Anna, and Dianne (Dick), and grandpa to 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, who all loved and took care of him until the day he died. He loved to take his kids on outdoor adventures, camping and hiking, and many a trip across the states to see family in the summers.
He was a do-it-yourselfer, taking apart every appliance in the house to “make it better”. He was a devout Catholic, spending his golden years volunteering in the community. Dad had a servant’s heart and lived by 1 Peter 4:10: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” While our hearts are heavy, we know you are home with the Lord, and we smile a little thinking you are probably already teaching folks how to polka in heaven. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24th from 5-9pm with Rosary at 7pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held Friday February 25, 2022, at 10am at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, Santa Clara, California.
