

Thomas Jude Vanderbosch, 90, of San Jose, CA passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Santa Clara, CA. He was born on January 31, 1927 in Mishawaka, IN, the eldest son of the late Amandus and Louise (DeGroote) Vanderbosch. He had lived in San Jose since 1966. In April 16, 1955, he married Mary Louise Reiter of South Bend, IN, who survives.
Along with this wife of 62 years, he is survived by his six children: Thomas (Judy) Vanderbosch of Denver CO, Patrice (Philip) Micciche of Los Gatos, CA, Beth (Dennis) Leary of San Jose CA, Susan (Erik) Iseman of San Jose, CA, Jill (Sandy) Vanderbosch of Saratoga, CA, and James (Amy) Vanderbosch of Los Gatos, CA, grandchildren Vincent and Alyssa Micciche, Sean, Dylan, and Kevin Leary, Gabrielle and Jaclyn Iseman, and Molly and Kate Vanderbosch. His brothers Phillip Vanderbosch of Matthews, NC, Richard Vanderbosch of Loveland, CO and his sister, Virginia Powers of Pittsburgh, PA, also survive him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Nolan Iseman.
Tom was a 1945 graduate of Central Catholic High School in South Bend, IN, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1954. He served as a Master Sergeant in the US Army from 1945-47 in Germany, and was called up again for service during the Korean Conflict in 1950-51. He was employed by the Bendix Corporation in South Bend, IN and in 1966 took a job with Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation in Palo Alto, CA in Contract Management. He retired in 1992 after 25 years of service.
After retirement, Tom and Mary Louise spent summers at their second home on Eagle Lake, in Edwardsburg, MI. For 22 years, they were able to entertain family and friends while enjoying all of the benefits of life at the lake. Tom often said his days at the lake with Mary Louise were the happiest times of his life.
A memorial service will be held at St Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
