For 89 years Virginia touched the lives of everyone she met. Born to Omedio and Virginia Donatelli, she grew up in San Jose with her six brothers and sisters: Joseph Correia, and Roland, Eleanor, Doris, Joan, and Don Donatelli. She attended Anne Darling Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School, San Jose High School, and San Jose State College, graduating with a degree in accounting.
She married Dan DiVittorio in 1949 and they built a home and raised a family on 31st Street. They have four sons: Dan Jr. (Rich), Ken, Chuck (Su), and Mike (Annika), and six grandchildren: Chris, Paul, Nick, William, Corinne, and Gina. “Aunt Virginia” was a favorite of her 36 nieces and nephews, as well as their children and her many godchildren, for whom she crocheted countless sweaters and afghans. Her home was always open to family and friends, and there was always room at the table for one more. She worked as an auditor for San Jose Unified School District for 25 years, and enjoyed gardening, traveling with Dan, and spoiling her grandkids.
Virginia passed away on February 2. Services will be held on Thursday, February 16, viewing at 10am, service at 11am, Lima Family Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy or other environmental organizations.
