

Ginger was born on September 30, 1941 at Worcester City Hospital at 1 Ib, 2 oz. in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her parents were Albert and Virginia Kerswell. Ginger was raised with 10 siblings, Sonny, Claire, Shirley, Ron, Nancy, Janice, Mel, Red, Alberta and Marty. While growing up, some of her best friends were Arline Cousineau and Marion Kerswell (St. George). Later in life, she became friends with Rip, Lirda, Gretel, Sandra, Shirley, Barbara and Bernie. On July 1, 1978 Ginger exchanged wedding vows with George R. Serface at Lakewood Methodist Church of Sunnyvale, California. Ginger was blessed with three sons, William, David and Michael. She was also blessed with nine grandchildren, Charlene, Billy, Michelle, David, Mikey, Kurstin, Jaden, Colton and Amiah. At work, as in life, Ginger was a real “people person.” Ginger was not afraid to speak her mind. Ginger worked as a Book Binder for 22 years and a retail clerk for 20 years. Her favorite pursuits were baking, bowling and going to A's baseball games. Some of her most prestigious awards included a 10 year service award from Nob Hill Foods. Favorite vacations included going to the Casinos with her family. Ginger was a lover of animals and cherished her pets, enjoying them almost as much as she enjoyed being around other people. One of Virginia's favorites was Sammy the tortoise. They were best friends for 35 years. Her family was rounded out by her C.C., Chelsea, Paco and the birds. Ginger passed away on July 21, 2013 at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, California. Ginger fought a brave battle against cancer and was a three time cancer survivor. She is survived by her husband George of 35 years; her three sons William, David and Michael; nine grandchildren, Charlene, Billy, Michelle, David, Mikey, Kirstin, Jaden, Colton and Amiah; her brothers Ron and Red; her sisters Alberta and Shirley; and her beloved pets. Ginger brought joy to all of those around her. Ginger lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. She will be remembered with a smile.
