

Harriet Schalick Sharp, daughter of Arthur P. and Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) Schalick, passed away in her sleep on Friday, October 26, 2012, at her home in Santa Monica, CA, surrounded by her family and caregivers.
Harriet was born on October 29, 1917, in Centerton, NJ. She graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1933 and from Montclair State Teachers College in 1937. She taught at Salem High School from 1939 until 1942. On August 9, 1942, she was wed to C. Edward Sharp of Collingswood, NJ. Following his service in World War II, they made their home on Almond Road in Centerton. In 1958 Ed's employer, RCA, transferred him to Somerville, NJ, and the family moved to Bridgewater Township. In 1966, the company moved them once again to Memphis, TN, where they lived until 1968. After short stays in Indianapolis, IN, and Canton, OH, Harriet and Ed moved to Wilmington, DE in 1972. Following Ed's death in 1987, Harriet moved to Cordova, TN, and in 1997, moved to Santa Monica, to live with her daughter, Deborah.
Harriet was active in numerous organizations including her church, Penns Grove Chapter #86 Order of the Eastern Star, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club.
She is survived by her children Suzanne of Santa Monica, C. Edward, Jr. (Ann) of Cordova, TN, Malcolm (Wayne) of Rolling Hills, CA, and Deborah of Santa Monica; grandsons Christopher Bodmer (Lissette) of Redondo Beach, CA, Charles E. Sharp, III of Topanga, CA, Benjamin Sharp (Alyssa) of Columbus, OH, and William Sharp of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving her are two great-grandsons, seven nephews and two nieces. In addition to her parents, Harriet was preceded in death by her brothers Arthur P. Schalick, Jr. and Theodore Francis Schalick.
Services will be held on November 7 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church, Santa Monica. She will then be taken back to New Jersey and on Tuesday, November 13, 6:30-8:30 PM, the family will welcome visitors at the Adams Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Elmer, NJ. The graveside service and burial will be on Wednesday, November 14, 11 AM, at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Route 609, Elmer.
