Born on July 12, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Millie was the daughter of Marvin and Evelyn Sharp Sorensen who proceeded her in death. She will be joining her brother Wallace Sorensen, sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Ray Lundquist, and her nephew, Mark Lundquist who will be waiting in heaven to greet her.
Millie was blessed with two amazing husbands who both passed before her. Her first marriage was to Gustav Werbetz. Her second marriage and the love of her life was to Robert Skinner.
Millicent is survived by her two nieces, Cheryl (Michael) Davis of Caledonia, MI, and Lisa Elliott of Auburn, CA as well as eleven great nephews and nieces: Patricia (Michael) Spiegel, Brian (Colleen) Davis, Melodie (Scott) Aubinelliott, Teresa (Michael) Corrington, Michael (Shannon) Lundquist, Steven (Makayla) Lundquist, Daniel (Autumn) Lundquist, Stacey (Joe) Lundquist, Rose Elliott, Vincent (Hailey) Elliott, and Christal (David) Lone, as well as 18 great great nieces and nephews.
Millie was very proud of her work with Bank of America. After graduating from high school, she worked for the bank for 36 years, as an esteemed loan officer who received several letters of accommodation and appreciation for her exemplary work ethic and dedication to her customers. After retiring from the bank, she enjoyed her job at the Woodlawn Cemetery and volunteered at the local elementary school across the street from her home. In addition, she was a member of First Lutheran Church of Venice and enjoyed the friendships she made there.
Millie loved her family and friends. She delighted in being around her great nieces and nephews who brightened her day whenever she could be with them. She loved stuffed animals, coloring on her iPad, music, dancing, participating in activities at the Culver City Senior Center, sending greeting cards, playing Bingo, enjoying sunsets at the beach, good food, and of course ... what could be better than a hot dog and a cold beer especially if it’s a Pabst Blue Ribbon. And many will remember her daily walks around if you could catch a glimpse of her as she sped through the neighborhood with her walker.
"Aunt Millie" had an infectious enthusiasm for life and was always ready for a new adventure. Her quirky sense of humor will be missed and the memories she's built over the years will be a lasting gift in the hearts of the family and friends who love her.
A private celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Gates, Kingsley, and Gates funeral home in Culver City.
