Suzanne Fitzgerald Carlson

Suzanne was born on July 15, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Stephen and Florence (Vinton) Fitzgerald. She attended Marquette University and in 1965 moved to Southern California. On July 1, 1967, she married Allen (“Al”) Carlson; they lived in Santa Monica and raised two daughters, Kathleen and Barbara.

Suzanne’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. While her children were young, she was very involved in the school PTA, AYSO soccer, Bobby Sox softball and the Santa Monica High School Band Parents Association. During these years many came to know and love her, forming friendships that were a meaningful part of her life to the end. Suzanne cherished the title of Grandma and was always involved in her grandchildren’s lives and loved every minute of it. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing golf, was an avid reader and loved to watch baseball and football – especially the Cubs, Dodgers and the Bears.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Al. She is survived by her two children Kathleen (Fritz), Barbara (Matthew), and grandchildren Nicholas, William, Sarah, Gavin and Reagan.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the COPD Foundation.
