Angelina Cirino Sheldon, 98, of Ventura, California passed away on June 8th, 2015 after living a very full life. She was born in 1917 in Los Angeles California to Anthony and Rosa Cirino. She graduated from UCLA. Prior to her marriage to Charles Shannon Sheldon, she was a P.E. teacher at Santa Paula High School; only slightly older than her students, she was much loved and often the subject of many pranks played on her by her students.
Her interests included a passion for gardening and knitting. Her life was a celebration of service to others and devotion to her children and family. Because of a life that was long and well lived, she left behind memories of an energetic, quick-witted, kind, sweet woman. Her smile and wave remains with us.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws Sue Sheldon-Valcalda and Ken Valcalda and Ellen Sheldon Miller and Marc Miller, and her two grandchildren Michael Shannon Sheldon and Katherine Megan Sheldon.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Charles Shannon Sheldon, parents Tony and Rosa Cirino, brothers Nick and Herb Cirino, and sister Cora Smeltz.
The viewing will be Monday, June 15th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary in Santa Paula, California. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Paula Cemetery.
Please hold “Angie” dear in your heart as we send her to a place where her hearing will be perfect and she will find herself knee-deep in roses. After a life of more than 98 years of limited and, eventually, no hearing, we are certain that, at first opportunity, she will crank the stereo to ‘high’ and eavesdrop on every conversation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross (Angie’s first service organization) - online at www.redcross.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767.
