
Boris (Buzz) Pundick was born on February 3, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Meyer and Mildred (Brody) Pundick. Meyer Pundick died in the 1918 flu epidemic in NYC. Boris attended Brooklyn Polytechnic High School and graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in mechanical engineering. Boris married Vivian Puckett in 1942 in Atlanta, GA. They had two children, Abby (Pundick) Vanderwood and Douglas Pundick, Vivian died in Sarasota in 2001. They had two grandchildren David Vanderwood and wife Jimmie and Dana McFadden and husband Patrick and four great grandchildren Coe and John Vanderwood and Katy and Logan McFadden. Boris worked at General Electric for 22 years. He was manager of control and guidance engineering for guided missile systems at GE’s headquarters in Schenectady, NY. He was then program manager and special director of projects with GE’s Outdoor Lighting Systems Department in Hendersonville, NC. He also worked at the GE plants in Salem, MA and Utica, NY. After leaving GE he became manager of manufacturing at Magnavox Corporation in Urbana-Champaign, IL, and was then named general manager of Hammarlund Manufacturing Company in Ashville, NC which produced communication equipment, and military and commercial electronic products. Boris then worked for Environment One in Schenectady, NY and National Radio Company in Malden, Massachusetts. Boris and Vivian lived for many years in Marblehead, MA. Boris has been an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church all of his life. He was an avid sailor and was a member of the Otsego Sailing Club in Cooperstown, NY and the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA. Boris lived with his life partner, Joyce Schneider, at Lakehouse West for several years prior to moving to Heron House. A memorial service will be held on Sun. Dec. 20th at 2:00 P.M. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, 3975 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34232. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Church.
