Elouise Robinson Agee, born in Brunswick, Georgia on February 4, 1940, made her peaceful transition from this life on Saturday, June 19, 2021. She was the sixth of eight siblings born to the late William Turner and Epsie Mae Robinson.
Elouise was educated in the all-black schools of Brunswick, Georgia, and graduated with honors from Brunswick’s Risley High School in 1957. In pursuit of a professional career, Elouise moved to Washington, D.C. and studied business at Strayer College (now University), gaining a certificate in Business. With encouragement from a friend, Elouise joined the United States Women’s Army Corps serving at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. After her stint with the Army, Elouise returned to Washington, D.C. and began her federal career as a stenographer with the Executive Office of the President (Office of Management and Budget) and moved up the ranks to a number of senior level positions within the Environmental Protection Agency, retiring in 1985.
In 1962 Elouise met and then married the love of her life, Larry Agee and together they raised their wonderful and loving daughter, Letitia (Tish) Agee Ali.
At her retirement, Elouise asked only for a tennis racket, as she was experiencing her love for tennis. There is no doubt that that racket served her well, making her a legend on the tennis courts in Maryland and later in Sarasota. Elouise will be remembered for her love of family, dancing, tennis, cooking, entertaining and travelling, all of which was done with love and her constant smile. She will always be remembered for her loving spirit and joyful, infectious love of life.
Elouise was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was never happier than when it was time to go to worship at her home church, Light of the World International Church, in Sarasota, Florida. In addition to serving the Lord, she gave of her time and talents to tutoring children at the church, mentoring young girls at Girls Inc. and volunteering tirelessly for Habitat for Humanity. She received many accolades and awards for her community service and because of her devoted time and energy serving the Sarasota community, she was recognized as “Volunteer of the Year!”
Elouise is survived by her husband Larry Agee, her daughter, Letita Agee Ali, her sister, Shirley Hamilton, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
