Helen was born April 11, 1936 to Ella Elizabeth Palmer and Alfred W. Westphalen, in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from Jamaica High School, Jamaica, NY in 1953. She was also a graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked in Manhattan, NY and on Long Island, NY until she met the “love of her life” at a Christmas party in 1959. Robert and Helen married on June 8, 1963 and lived a beautiful life together.
She dearly loved her family and friends, reading, travelling, football, cooking, and everything to do with the holidays. She was also a lover of theater, music and dance and enjoyed “wowing” the crowds with a foxtrot or lindy over the years.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert H. Platow; and son, Eric S. Platow.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlette E. Salinsky; daughter-in-law, Rachel A. Platow; grandchildren, Nicholas E. Cuesta, Robert L. Cuesta, Mathew G. Platow, Jonathan R. Platow, and Andrew S. Platow; and great grandchild, Colt B. Cuesta.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 5-8PM at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 7454 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota Florida.
A private burial for family and close friends will be held the next day.
