

James Clark Deckert died peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2017. Jim was born on May 16, 1944 in Omaha, NE. He graduated high school in 1962 from North High School in Omaha, NE and following he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1966 and a Master of Science degree in 1968 both in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA Jim began his career as an Engineer at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, MA. He went on to advance his career as an Associate Division Manager at Alphatech, Inc. in Burlington, MA. He then was a Co-Founder and Vice President of Engineering at IDVehicle.com, Inc. in Burlington, MA. Jim retired as a Senior Principal Systems Engineer at the Raytheon Company in Sudbury, MA. Jim had an extensive and diverse engineering career specializing in management of major software/hardware development programs. Jim was an avid reader, fond of discussing the latest political events and was a devoted Nebraska Football fan. He also enjoyed exploring new restaurants and traveling the world. He especially enjoyed annual trips to the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Jim appreciated all aspects of the arts and was a supporter of the Asolo Repertory Theatre. Preceded in death by his father Bobbie Dean Deckert and his beloved wife, Anne Granger Deckert, whom he married in 1993. Jim is survived by his mother Darlene Deckert of Omaha, NE; a step-son, Stephen Law and wife, Lee from Thornton, PA; a step-daughter, Kathy Carlson and husband, Eric from Mendon, MA; grandchildren, Ryan Law, Brett Carlson, Joseph Carlson and brother-in-law, Peter Granger and wife, Kathy from Columbus, OH A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 28th at 7:00p.m. at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida.
