James “Jim” K. Orihood, 83 of Sarasota, FL passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on November 7, 2023. Jim was born February 26, 1940 in Troy, Ohio to the late Stephen and Caroline (Messick) Orihood.
Also preceding him in death are his beloved wife of 34 years, Jarmilla “Jeri” Orihood; step-son Brian Murphy; brother, Joseph “Joe” Orihood.
He is survived by step-daughter Ann (Patrick Sheehan) Erbaugh of North Port, FL; brothers Stephen “Skip” Orihood of Columbia, TN, Kenneth “Ken” (Tanya) Orihood of Valrico, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a loving and devoted husband, step-father, brother, and everyone’s favorite crazy uncle. He retired from Chrysler Corp in Dayton, OH and was a fulltime resident of Florida for 27 years. Before relocating to Florida, Jim (WD8JCI) was very active in the ham radio community as part of the Dayton Amateur Radio Association (DARA). His unique character and fun-loving spirit made him the life of the party with his continuous jokes and shenanigans. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Robert Toale & Sons – Wiegand Chapel, 7454 S Tamiami Tr, Sarasota, FL 34231.
