Mary Catherine (Cathy) Oberrender von Glahn passed away July 23, 2025 in Lakewood Ranch, FL. She was born May 20, 1933 in Arkansas to John and Quala Mae Sykes and was raised in Maplewood, NJ by W.H. and Lillian Oberrender. She was married to Theodore von Glahn who preceded her in death after 63 years of happy union.
Cathy was an active volunteer in many organizations—PTO, Girl Scouts of America, New Eyes for the Needy, Wyoming Presbyterian Church (all in NJ) and several golf organizations in Osprey, FL where she and Ted retired. She was happiest when she was serving and often joked that “No” was not in her vocabulary when someone asked for help.
She is survived by her three children, Theodore von Glahn and his wife, Cindi, of Palmetto, FL, Susan von Glahn Lorenti and her husband, Paul of Andover, MA and Carol von Glahn Hussar and her husband, Eric of Lewisburg, PA as well as her six dearly loved grandchildren, Michelle Lorenti and PJ Lorenti, and Madeline Hussar, Lillian Hussar Blaydon, Grace Hussar and Celia Hussar as well as her great grandchild, Kennedy Mary Blaydon. Several beloved nieces and nephews will miss her caring nature too.
A graveside service will take place on August 11, 2025, at 10am at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ with arrangements made by Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Empath Tidewell Hospice Foundation, Sarasota, FL.
