When asked, what would you want to be said about you, Bob smiled, just say, “I had a hell of a life!“ and “My loving family and good friends were always there for me!” Everyone who knew Bob knew he loved finding a good bargain, the New England Patriots, Notre Dame, Yahtzee, crossword puzzles, building models, a good New England meal, Chinese food and Boston Cream Donuts! Oh, and we can’t forget pistachios and his afternoon Happy Hour. Bob also loved history and telling stories of growing up in New England and how wonderful it was when things were simpler. But most of all he loved his family. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, great and great-great Uncle! Bob was born on March 29th, 1933 in Hamtramck, Michigan, but would say he was actually born on March 28th and the doctor didn’t get there until the next day to sign the birth certificate. So needless to say, he liked to celebrated both days.
Bob attended local schools in Turners Falls and was a graduate of Harvey H. Lowrey High School Class of 1951 in Dearborn, MI. He was employed for 20 years at Hanover Manufacturers National Bank in Detroit, MI. Bob was a proud lifetime member of St. Kaziemerz's Polish Club and was their bookkeeper and financial officer for many years. He was also a member of St. Stanislaus in Turners Falls. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Turners Falls. Throughout his life he has lived in Bernardston, Erving, Montague City, and Turners Falls, Massachusetts, Hinsdale, New Hampshire, Detroit, Michigan, Cape Coral and Bradenton Florida, but home to Bob was always in New England due to his friends and fond memories.
Bob leaves behind a family that truly loved and adored him. His nephews and nieces, Dale (& Mary) Nees, Mike (& Sheri) Nees, Tami (& John) Wadhams and Doug Nees. His great nieces and nephews, Samantha (& Ryan) Degnan, Sean Nees, Scott Nees, Brittani Nees, Zach Wadhams and Joe Wadhams. He was also blessed with three beautiful great-great niece and nephews Mary, Jack and Rory. They all loved him and he will be missed dearly. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Leona (Sanstock) Nees, and mother and father Anna (Pliska) & Harold “Red” Podmore.
So, this evening at 4pm please raise a glass in honor of Bob. You know he is with all of his family and buddies smiling and saying, NA ZDROWIE!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s New England Hospital in Springfield, MA who lovingly took care of him as a child with polio. https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations/new-england?campaign=655734
