July 30, 1955 - July 28, 2024
Terrell, 68, of Nokomis, FL passed away peacefully at Sarasota Hospice House, with his wife of 46 years at his side. He was born in Lakeland, FL and moved to Sarasota, FL when he was in the 2nd grade.
He attended Brentwood and Gulf Gate elementary schools, Brookside Junior High School, and then graduated from Riverview High School in 1973. He was a member of the Riverview High School Kiltie Band, the jazz band and the orchestra. He was friendly and outgoing, so he made lots of friends while in
school. Many of those friends became lifetime friends.
Terrell was a meat cutter and then became a market manager for Publix Supermarket. He worked for Publix for 28 years before retiring. After spending a year relaxing, his wife demanded he go find a part-time job since she was still working. He went to work at Prestancia Golf and Country Club as a groundskeeper. He enjoyed working and golfing with his friends, when off, until he was diagnosed with MS.
Terrell was an avid fisherman and loved scuba diving. He enjoyed boating and taking out friends and family on skiing, tubing, and fishing trips. He also enjoyed playing racquetball. In 2003 Terrell was diagnosed with MS, which made him unable to participate in those activities. He took up reading, especially thrillers, playing games with family and friends, and of course always had music playing.
Terrell was the last member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his father, “Bo” Davis; his mother, Wynell Davis; and his older brother, Brien Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Davis; Leah Sizemore, whom they became legal guardians of when she was 10; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws whom he adored. Leah called Terrell her “Uncle Grampa”.
A celebration of life for Terrell will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Nokomis Community Park, 234 Nippino Trail E, Nokomis, FL 34275, followed by a reception at 6:30 PM.
