Adrienne Lillian Kinchen

Adrienne Lillian (nee Reisdorf) passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2025, at the age of 93, at the Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon. Deeply saddened by this loss, her family hopes friends and loved ones will find comfort in a favorite Christian hymn of hers: "He will raise you up on eagles' wings . . . and hold you in the palm of His hand".

Adrienne was born on August 2, 1932, and was raised on a farm near Lipton, SK. The eldest daughter of Karl and Olga Reisdorf, she had one sister and eight brothers. She is predeceased by her husband Melvyn (1990), son Darrell (2019), and two grandchildren Salim and Angus Epp; her parents Karl and Olga; her brothers: Ernest, Walter, Herbert, Norman, Ron, Art and Wilfred; brother-in-law Dick Singbeil, and sister-in-law Joyce. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Gordon) Epp; sons: Clinton (Brenda), Marvin (Theresa), and Darwin (Dini); grandsons: Seamus Epp, Derrick and Chad Kinchen, Cory Kinchen, Charlie and John Kinchen; granddaughters: Chandra Kulaga, Tara Kinchen, and Candice Ketchum; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Sylvia Singbeil, brother Elmer; sisters-in-law: Bertha, Doreen, Anita, Freda, and Bev; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Adrienne felt fortunate with the gift of piano lessons from her parents and enjoyed playing piano for school concerts, a pump organ at church, and accordion and piano at school dances with her older brothers. She also enjoyed playing softball with the family on the farm and in local tournaments. Adrienne married Melvyn Kinchen in 1954, and they raised one daughter and four sons. They lived in Limerick near Melvyn's parents, then Assiniboia, Moose Jaw, and Wolseley before moving to Saskatoon. Their first date, after meeting at a dance in Regina, was on a picnic in the Qu'Appelle Valley, where she played her accordion, and he played his trumpet. Known for her jovial sense of humor, she wrote comedic songs for family reunions and was considered a worthy opponent by the younger kids in water pistol battles. Although small in stature, she didn't sweat the small stuff and welcomed any "small" jokes with a witty comeback. Special interests over the years included singing in choirs, sewing, gardening, and fishing trips with her husband and other couples. She nurtured her children through music, sports, Cubs and Brownies, and church activities for children and youth. Adrienne lived a life of dedication to the Reisdorf and Kinchen families - enjoying many family gatherings, her church community at Augustana Lutheran, and various charities in Saskatoon. In 2005 she retired from the family electronic sales/service business, Kinchen TV and Appliance, after 38 years of enthusiastic and personable service to her loyal customers. Started with her late husband, Melvyn, she was joined by two sons later on for a time. Adrienne really enjoyed developing the small appliance sales and service depot. After retirement her enterprising and generous spirit found a way to combine her faith with charity by leading a team at Augustana Lutheran who gathered soap and bed sheets from hotels and repurposed them into clean soap and clean bandages to be distributed to the needy, locally and overseas. Her Christian values also found fulfillment in helping foreign students with affordable rent in her property in the University area of Saskatoon.

In her later years, Adrienne enjoyed the social life living independently at Circle Drive Place, welcomed the family atmosphere at Baraka Personal Care Home, and appreciated the compassionate care and attention she received moving back to Circle Drive as a resident in the Special Care Home. The family would like to warmly thank everyone who assisted her in her senior years, and for the loving tributes received from family and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to the Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon or Food For The Hungry Canada or Alzheimer Society of Canada, dedicated to Adrienne, would be appreciated.
