Albert was predeceased in 2013 by his beloved wife of 57 years, Theresa. He is survived by his three children: Brian Weninger (Helen), Karen Rodrigue (Dan), and Alan Weninger (Mary Beckie). He was a proud grandfather to Grant Weninger (Shauna), Dean Weninger (Avry Cline), Michelle Waller (Darren), Marie Eggleton (Craig), Matthew Rodrigue (Kathryn), and Noah Weninger. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Gavin, Nolan, and Carson (children of Grant and Shauna), Cole and Leah (children of Michelle and Darren), and Owen and Audrey (children of Marie and Craig).
He is also survived by his younger brother Ray Weninger, sisters-in-law Eva Weninger and Lorraine Babick, and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was born and raised on the family homestead just south of Allan, Saskatchewan, the eldest son of Joseph and Johanna Weninger. He attended St. Thomas College in Battleford for part of high school, returning to Allan to graduate. After attending Normal School in Saskatoon, he began his career as a teacher in the Allan District. He later transitioned to a career with the Federal Government in the Customs and Excise Tax Division. This path led him and his family to Windsor, Ontario, and then to Minnedosa, Manitoba, before they returned to Saskatoon, where he eventually retired from government service.
Albert remained active in retirement, working with his brother Ozzie at Weninger Industries and later with his brother-in-law Andy at the Knights of Columbus Bingo Hall.
He was a social man, always enjoying visits and connections with friends and extended family. He had a deep interest in genealogy and spent countless hours documenting the histories of the Weninger and Wilson families, filling binders with information and stories. His memory for dates was remarkable, though he modestly said it just came naturally to him and couldn’t understand why others found it unusual.
Albert was known for his humor, his warmth, and his ability to make people laugh. His kind heart, sharp wit, and generosity will be remembered and missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.
