Amelia was born to Anna Marie (Heit) and Joseph Simon in 1928. She was raised on the farm near Tramping Lake with her brothers and sisters; Amelia lost her Dad in her early teen years. Being an intelligent young woman Amelia graduated at 16, then commenced a teacher’s program, which led her to Kokesh School. That is around the time she met Ambrose.
Ambrose and Amelia married in 1947; and within a few years stopped teaching to begin a family and enjoy farm-life with Ambrose at Cactus Lake, SK. In the early 70s they gave up farming and moved to Saskatoon where Amelia found gratifying work at Sherbrooke Nursing home, continuing there until her retirement. Ambrose and Amelia enjoyed travelling over the years throughout Canada, and ventured to Las Vegas, Florida, and Hawaii. After recovering from a serious illness in 2009, Amelia and Ambrose moved into St. Anne’s Place, independent living. Ambrose passed away in 2011. Amelia powered through, living a full life; enjoying visits with friends, relatives, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
