On Friday, February 9, 2018, Angela Milne of Saskatoon completed her journey to the House of the Father. Often unknown to us, there are people whose prayer, silent service, and faith-filled sufferings keep whole the heart of our human family. Our sister in the Lord Jesus Christ, Angela, was one of these witnesses. Born in Germiston, Transvaal, South Africa on January 23, 1940, she immigrated to Canada with her husband Dr. John Linnell. After many miscarriages the two of them welcomed a son, Jaimie. Sadly, death took both John at an early age and then Jaimie at age three. Sustained by her indomitable Catholic Faith, her firm resolve, and a quirky undefeated sense of humour, Angela bore years of physical suffering while serving as the care giver to others. She attracted, frustrated, and inspired special friends – including several priests whom she “adopted” as her sons. Her last years were often lonely and painful – but she lived with acceptance and reached out to help others as she could. How blessed she was to have Terry Cressman as a faithful friend and support. She is survived by her brothers David and Neil John Milne and their families of South Africa. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Stefano Penna on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church (1902 Munroe Ave. S.) in Saskatoon. The Rite of Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Special thanks to David Schurr and Mourning Glory Funeral Services for their generous care. Always with Angela was the “Great Cloud of Witnesses” – Jesus’ Saints, especially St. Thérèse of Lisieux, cheering her on. May she hear them sing, “Well done, good and faithful servant … enter into the joy of your Master.” (Matt. 25:21) Glory to God for all things.
