Anne was born July 12, 1929 on the Wilson farm at Harris, SK. She was the 6th of 13 children born to Maria and Abram Olfert. When Anne was 9 the family moved to a farm by Luseland, SK. which is still inhabited by Olferts.
Anne went to school in Luseland. She had to stop her schooling after grade 8 in order to help her Mom look after the younger kids.
Anne’s first paying job was at 15, helping at a neighbor’s farm during harvest. She also worked as a housewife’s helper for a Luseland family, taking care of the children and around the house and yard.
At the age of 20, Anne moved to Saskatoon to take a sewing course. For room and board she worked as a maid at a house on Saskatchewan Crescent. After getting her Diploma in Sewing and Pattern making, in 1950, Anne moved back to Luseland and got a job at the Red and White Store where she worked till she married Oscar in July 1953.
Anne and Oscar’s first home was on a farm north of Superb where they started their family. In 1957 Anne and Oscar bought the Peters family farm 1 mile south of Superb where Anne lived till 2021 when the land was sold.
In 1970, Anne got a job at Kerrobert Union Hospital, first in the laundry, then moving to the kitchen where she was head cook until her retirement at 65 in 1994.
Anne worked very hard and kept busy her entire life and that didn’t stop at retirement. She could finally go visit her kids and grandkids whenever she wanted and she travelled a lot, she loved to drive.
Anne is predeceased by her husband Oscar, 1996, daughter Marie, 2010 and son Keith, 2021.
Anne enjoyed her family and the farm. She loved when any of her children and grandkids would come visit.
Anne continued to sew, garden and cook until she sold the farm in 2021. She then moved to Saskatoon to live with her daughter, Janet, and called it home till March 2023 when she went to St Paul’s Hospital where she spent her last weeks.
