

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Frederick Frie on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife and best friend Annette, married for 14 years, his two sons Lionel (Shirley), Warren (Geri), as well as his sister Kathleen (Tom) Phillips. Art had 4 grandchildren: Jason Frie, Dylan Frie, Breanne (Kevin) Lishchynsky, and Taylor (Kelsey Blanch) Frie. His great grandchildren were Cobin, Carter and Layne Lishchynsky, as well as Luca Frie. In addition he had 5 step-children: Dwight (Liz) Hunks; Darrell (Shannon) Hunks; Lynne (Jonathan) Hunks; Barry (Leah) Hunks; and Sherill (Dan) Hunks. Also remembered by Annette’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Art was also blessed with a large and loving extended family who gave great meaning to his life. Arthur was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann of 48 years, as well as two sisters and three brothers; Dorothy Diederichs, Florence Hessdorfer, Sylvester, Elmer and Jim Frie. His career included farming and real estate. He was an active member of the Lions Club for 42 years and dedicated a great deal of time to volunteering for the following services: Nutana Lions activities, Knights of Columbus, driving for Cancer Society, CNIB, Church Ministry, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, in addition to nursing home and hospital visits. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon).
