It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Auguste; he died suddenly at home Dec 28th, 2011. Auguste was born in Niagara Falls and went to Lakehead University in Thunder Bay where he earned a diploma in Forest Technology. In 1971 he joined the RCMP and specialized in the area of electronic surveillance, where he became a respected expert in this field. Auguste proudly served his community for 32 years in the RCMP, retiring in 2003. In 2009 he returned to law enforcement with the Saskatoon Police Service, where he served until his death. Auguste loved police work and served his community with pride and integrity. He made an important difference that will be remembered.
Auguste was a devout family man, and he was immensely proud of his wife and children. He encouraged and supported them in everything they did. He lived his life with true integrity and loved his family with every ounce he had. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lorraine Schmid and his children, Jonathan (Victoria), David (Jennifer), Heidi (Charles) and his precious granddaughter Laihlah. Auguste was the oldest of eight children and is predeceased by his father, Auguste Schmid, and survived by his mother L. Charlotte Schmid, and his siblings Dan, Roger (Cheryl), Michael (Therese), Leigh (Karin), Suzanne (Kevin), Glenn (Lisa) and Charlotte (Craig); and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Auguste loved Amateur Radio and was an avid “Ham”. He was a longstanding member of the Saskatoon Amateur Radio club and loved tracking weather balloons, and his Saturday morning breakfasts with his radio buddies. He will be missed by many.
