July 14, 1924 – October 27, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Betty, at the age of 92 years at the Langham Senior Citizens Home. Mom was born in Star City, SK, the sixth of eight children to Emma and Paul Radloff. She grew up and lived in Star City until, on October 28, 1945, she married her life partner, Richard Wert. She then began her life as the wife of a railroader and moved to live in several towns in Saskatchewan; Welby, Totsky, Brooksby, Hoey, Langham, Bruno, Semans, Dundurn and finally to Saskatoon. Three daughters were born to Betty and Dick. Betty dedicated herself to raising these girls. When the children were all of school age she expanded her skills to include bookkeeping which she learned by working in the Langham Credit Union. She also taught herself how to type. These skills served her well. In the early sixties she commuted to Saskatoon where she acquired employment with Muttart Homes. When she lived in Semans she was employed by the Semans Credit Union. After they moved to Saskatoon she focused on home based business with Avon and Coppercraft. Leisure time was spent at the cabin in Shell lake with family and friends. Mom is lovingly remembered by her family; Lorna (Bob) Reimer and their children, Jerrilyn (Mike) Rebeyka, Jackie (Jeff) Hanrahan, and Kurtis (Melanie) Reimer, Margaret (Wayne) and their children Cara (Dave) Wihlidal, Charla (Dustin) Halstead, Gina (Brian) Doane, Donna (Michael) Summerfeldt and their children Michaela (Shawn) Summerfeldt and Benton (Emily) Summerfeldt and sixteen great-grandchildren, sister Kay Wilson Valentine, sisters in law Irene Wert, Biggy Radloff, Bernice Radloff and Melba and Norman Burgoyne and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Wert, her parents, and sisters and brothers Frank, Grace, Maxine, Glen, Paul and Rhea plus several sisters in law and brothers in law. Mom lived her life for her family, children and grandchildren. She was always there to mentor us. She was the best and all we could have wished for. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Mayfair United Church, 902 33rd St. W, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
