

Connie was the first-born child of Anthony Felix and Hazel Halter (née Crozier). She was born on her mother’s 22nd birthday, June 24, 1944, in Dodsland, Saskatchewan. Connie was raised on the family farm two miles east of Plenty, Saskatchewan and attended school in Plenty. Upon graduating high school, Connie moved to Saskatoon to attend Teachers’ College where she received her teacher’s certificate. In 1963, Connie began a long career of teaching in Radisson, Saskatchewan. Over the years, Connie also taught in Edmonton, Alberta, Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Lloydminster, Alberta. She would often recount her experiences and enjoyed telling stories about her many students up until her death. Over the years, Connie attended night classes and summer sessions at the University of Saskatchewan to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, earning her degree in 1988.
While living in Edmonton, Connie met and married her first husband, John Davidson. Connie and John enjoyed moving house often and lived in several cities during their marriage. They also owned a business in Medicine Hat named The Different Drummer. Together, Connie and John had two daughters, Andrea Jill in 1975 and Allison Hilary in 1977. Before Andrea was born, Connie and John set down roots in Saskatoon. Following their separation in 1977 and divorce in 1980, Connie remained in Saskatoon and raised her daughters as a single parent. In 2005, Connie met Armond Vaillant, who would become her second husband. Connie and Armond married in 2006 and lived together in both Calgary and Saskatoon until his death in 2016. In 2020, Connie moved to McClure Tower where she made many friends and enjoyed getting involved on committees and in social events around the building such as coffee, exercises, and card games.
Connie was predeceased by her father Anthony (Tony) Halter in 1991, her mother Hazel Halter (née Crozier) in 2015, her second husband Armond Vaillant in 2016, and sister-in-law Lynn Halter (née Campbell) in 2021.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Andrea (Lawrence) Richardson and Allison (Ryan) Treble. Her grandchildren Claire Schmidt, Naomi Schmidt, William Richardson, Sam Treble, Jack Treble, and Max Treble. Her siblings Sherlyn (Wayne) Poland, Jim Halter, Gaylene Halter, and Shawn (Leslie Anne Strand) Halter as well as her aunts Alice and MaryAnn and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Connie loved her role as mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time watching her children and grandchildren pursue their many passions. Connie instilled in her girls the importance of education and independence and was very proud of their personal and professional accomplishments.
As per Connie’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family interment will occur at the Plenty Cemetery at a future date.
