Mr. Daniel J Brunen

Daniel is survived by his wife of 57 years Cheryl (nee Hackl), and his two sons Grant (special friend Robyn) and Paul (Tara) and his grandchildren Jaden, Justin (special friend Meg), Luke and Avery, sister-in-law Marilyn Brunen.

Brother-in-law James Winkel, and the Hackl in-laws: Wayne (Marina), Leo, Brenda, Karen (Bob Harris) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel is predeceased by his mother Rose and father Henry Brunen, and all of his siblings, Bernardine, Bobby and Barry.

Born in Pilger, SK, Daniel spent most of his youth until age 15 in Lake Lenore when they moved to St. Benedict. In St. Benedict, he met Cheryl and they married in 1967. He graduated from St. peter's College in Muenster in 1964. Daniel completed RCMP training in Ottawa in 1968. His favourite part of the training program was being able to care for the horses.

Daniel served in the RCMP in Prince George, then transferred to Burnaby after they were married in 1967. They returned to Saskatchewan following his mother's death in 1968. He left the RCMP to live closer to their families. In Saskatchewan he worked at the University Hospital and with other employers. Since his love was always farming and cattle, in 1974 they bought and operated a farm near Warman, where he lived until his death at home August 9, 2024.

Following their usual coffee chat with several of his in-laws, and a meal at friends' Lam and Thanh's restaurant, Daniel and Cheryl returned home. While Cheryl went to the kitchen briefly, Daniel sat in his favourite chair and took his last breath. Daniel always insisted that he would not leave the farm and he got his wish.

A public viewing will take place on Friday August 16th, 7:00 PM at Mourning Glory Funeral Services - 1201 8 St E, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5, Canada

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday August 17th, 11:00 AM at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parish - 18 33 St E, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R7, Canada with burial to take place at Martensville Cemetery.
