Darrell’s early life was on the farm east of Asquith, he loved the farm, to play in the dirt, climb trees and buildings and make friends with all the animals. Darrell’s passion for most things with a wheel certainly developed on the farm. The Hugness brothers rented the family farmland, and they let Darrell climb aboard tractors and combines, he rode until he fell asleep. One of his fondest memories was sharing meals in the field with the crew.
Darrell had an entrepreneurial spirit; in his early twenties he bought a dump truck and a Bobcat and did landscaping around Saskatoon. Darrell moved to Calgary in the 80s and worked in road service and traffic management.
Darrell learned he had siblings from his biological father and in Prince Rupert, BC he located his half-brother Jim Robertson. Darrel built a small coffee shop near the public docks and named it Bobs On The Rocks, which he operated for a few years. He eventually gravitated to heavy equipment operations in the oil sands and was proud to have operated one of the biggest graders in the world.
Darrell moved to Saskatoon in 2017, where he turned his photography hobby into Flatlander photography. He roamed the prairies photographing harvesting operations, crop dusting and motor racing. He did a few photos for the City of Saskatoon of road maintenance operations.
Always open to having a good chat with strangers and being involved in the communities he loved such as photography and gaming. He enjoyed Minecraft, but the Battlefield franchise was his favorite. He enjoyed playing online with his son Carsen and always liked playing a supportive role like medic, support, and recon. He might not have been the best at shooting, but he’d be the first person to run and try to revive a player or provide ammunition to a fellow player.
Darrell is survived by his son Carsen Vibert; uncle, Douglas McCabe; half-brother Jim Robertson; cousins Sandy McCabe, Duane Jorgenson, Shaune Unger, Nicole Thiessen, Wayne Vibert and their families.
Darrell is predeceased by father R.O. (Bob) Vibert; mother Marjory Vibert; aunt Linda Jorgenson; uncle Beverly Jorgenson; uncle Neil McCabe; aunt Edna Vibert; uncle Don Vibert and cousin Gregory Vibert.
