Diane passed away suddenly but peacefully surrounded by her family on July 18, 2019 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Her death was a result of unexpected complications from a common infection. She is survived by her adoring husband Chris and their two children Leah (Dewey) and Justin (Elizabeth); grandchildren Anna and Henry Noordhof and Ivy Sarich; her sister Lorraine, her brothers Doug, Roley and Brad. She was predeceased by her mother and father Iva and Stuart Fawcett, and her nephew Tyler. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, her in-laws, her many nieces and nephews, her friends from university, the library, neighbourhood, bridge club and the lake. She met her husband Chris at the University of Saskatchewan and they were married in Saskatoon on July 27th, 1968. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Lake Diefenbaker in July 2018. Diane and Chris enjoyed years of travel together, including visiting Justin’s family in Singapore, and annual visits to Palm Springs where they were joined by family and friends. Di loved being a grandma. She cherished every moment with her “babies”, her term of affection for her grandchildren. Her boundless love for them was evident in the countless hours they shared swimming, playing board games or reading stories together. Diane was born and raised in Saskatoon and graduated from the U of S in 1967 with a degree in English. Her entire career as a librarian was spent at the Saskatoon Public Library. Reading was one of Diane’s greatest passions. She always had a good book on the go, mysteries were her favourite genre. Her special place to read was on the deck at the cabin listening to the birds singing. This love of books was passed on to her children and grandchildren. Mom’s love and kindness were felt by all her nieces, nephews and in-laws. Her grace and warmth were obvious to anyone lucky enough to have known her. Diane cherished her time with her family and friends at the cabin at Diefenbaker Lake where she will be laid to rest. There will be a Liturgy of the Word held at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK) on Friday, July 26th, 2019 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
