Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Connie; their three sons, Todd and his children Taylor and Jade; Jeff and his children Bo (Stephanie), Kiera and Tyse; Kyle (Melanie) and their children Zoey, Quinn and Karver.
Don was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba which is also where he met and later married Connie. They started their life together in High Bluff before welcoming their three sons, Todd, Jeff and Kyle. The family moved a lot stretching from Manitoba, to Saskatchewan, and then Alberta before returning to and settling in Dundurn, Saskatchewan.
Don was considered a "jack of all trades" though he made the majority of his living as a water well driller. He even ran his own company "Lenard Drilling" for a number of years. His job took him all over Canada. He was on the road a lot but when he returned from his travels, his children, along with the other neighbourhood children were waiting and eager for him to pull into the driveway. Many can remember the playful wrestling matches Don would have on his front lawn with his boys. He was well loved by all. Don worked for IWS (International Water Supply) for over 30 years, "retiring" in 2000 only to find himself keeping busy as a maintenance man at a golf course and then to Allan Construction as a yard man for the remainder of his working years.
Some of Don's favorite pass times were reading western novels, watching old western movies, tuning into a Leafs' or Blue Jays' game (depending on the season) or taking the dog for a daily walk. He enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years and even played goal for the local team. He loved to putter in his garden; tending to his vegetables and ensuring Connie's flowers were always well maintained. Don was a quiet and observant man. He didn't say much but when he did speak, it was heartfelt and meaningful. He will be missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11 AM in the Dundurn United Church (300-2nd Street, Dundurn, SK)
