Our mom Doreen, 93, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026 in the palliative care unit at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, surrounded by love and compassionate care. She had been residing at Columbian Manor, where she continued to share her warmth, humor, and gentle spirit with those around her.
She was born in the South Allan area to Joe and Adelaide (Ida) nee Hegel, Brossart, On November 27th, 1932. Mom eventually moved to Saskatoon to live and study sewing under Mrs. Bransell, where she excelled. This led to her first job at Singer’s, selling machines and providing lessons to those who bought them.
Raised on a farm, mom learned early the values of hard work, faith, and resilience. She later married Reynold (June 12, 1956), and together they continued farming while building a loving home and growing their family, grounded in deep commitment to one another and to those they loved. They were both active parishioners at St Aloysius Catholic Church. Mom was a member of the CWL for over 65 years. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her with quiet strength, gratitude, and compassion.
Doreen, affectionately known as “Bobie” to her loved ones-was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, baking treats, or laughing together, her love was constant and unmistakable.
Bobie found joy in gardening and took pride in nurturing growing things. Her kitchen was always a place of comfort, filled with the aromas of home-cooked meals and baked goods lovingly prepared-especially her dog-tailed noodles and kuchen. She also knew how to have fun—she loved polka dancing, a good laugh, and enjoying a drink of Jägermeister. Her laughter was contagious and brought joy wherever she went.
She is survived by her children Colleen (Jay Worrel), Kelvin (Heather), Arlette (Barry Croshaw), grandchildren: Jonathan, Jaclyn (Riley), Brittany (Nolan), Laurin (Tom), Dillon (Kelsey), Maddison (Jerad), Great Grandchildren: Leif, Royal and Emery. Sisters: Eleanor (Stan Olszewski), Marie (Ray Hagel) Brother-in-law; Leo (Gail) Zeiler, Sisters-in-law: Beatrice Brossart and Natalie Brossart and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Reynold of October 2022, infant son Gilbert, son-in-law Jack Griffin, daughter-in-law Theresa Zeiler, parents Joe and Ida Brossart, Reynold’s parents Helen and Roy Zeiler, brothers Pius and Eddie Brossart, brother-in-law and wife Ed and Irene Zeiler, brother-in-law Percy Zeiler and Toni and Klara Zeiler.
Doreen will be lovingly remembered for her strong faith, her generous heart, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Although we will miss her so deeply, it brings us peace knowing she is with Dad again and surrounded by love and happiness.
A private, family funeral will be held celebrating Doreen's life.
