Doug Walters passed away at the age of 76 following a period of illness. He is survived by the love of his life Lorraine. Their love story spanned over 55 years. Together they raised three children: Jim, Jenny and John. They were blessed with four grandchildren: Averi and Tyler Markus, and Brianna and Drew Walters.
Doug was born in North Battleford on March 10, 1949, and moved to Saskatoon at the age of five. He attended Pleasant Hill, Mount Royal Collegiate and the University of Saskatchewan.
He worked for Canada Post for 12 years before beginning a 25-year career with PCS. For the final 19 years of his career, he served as the Human Resources Superintendent at the Allan Potash Mine.
Doug was a man of few words. One of his favourite sayings was “Wait for the facts.” He loved cars and racing at SIR with his son John. Always a Ford, always high horsepower, and always meticulously put together, culminating with their 8 second Mustang. He also loved curling and made many friends at the Sutherland Curling Club.
Most of all Doug loved being with his family. He was our North Star.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, there will be no funeral. We are grateful for the life he lived and the love he gave.
