

Dries Vandenheuvel was born on March 22, 1950, in Holland. The Vandenheuvel family arrived in Canada from Holland aboard the Groote Beer passenger ship in 1958. Upon arriving in Saskatoon, his childhood home was in the park area of the Forestry Farm, as his father was the groundskeeper for the park. Utilizing his many skills, he built the family home that many future Vandenheuvel’s called home and is still a part of the family today. Always keeping busy, this carried him to many career opportunities. He was a carpenter (which caused a serious eye injury), a 1A long haul truck driver, a roofer, was a certified taxi driver, and finally a dump truck operator for road paving at his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, soccer (often in cowboy boots), watching and helping his children and grandchildren in participate in sports, coffee, cheating in cards, hunting with his brother-in-laws, Stampede Wrestling, M.A.S.H, Beverly Hillbillies, and anything Clint Eastwood.
Dries is survived by many loving people. They include his longtime wife, Lynda, two daughters, Vanessa and Crystal, and three sons, Rick, Steve, and Den. There are 12 grandchildren: Skyler, Ashton, Delton, Koleton, Ace, Starlynne, Sabastian, Christoph, Saharra, Cruz, Odin, Solan, Faith and Lilly and his four great-grandchildren: Kayden, Hunter, Ava, and Zyare.
In his life he was many things, some of the most important ones include Son, Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend.
