April 21, 1954 - April 5, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Tait. Elizabeth was born in Ayr, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1967. She was predeceased by her son, Shawn; her mother, Jean; special family friend, Rene Anderson and her loving canine companion, Dixie. Liz will be sadly missed by her father, A. Gerry Tait; her son, Michael Tait and adored grand-daughters, Harmony and Ashley; her son, Mark Amendt (Tracy); Uncle F. Desmond Tait, Ayr; spouse, William (Bill) Gruhlke; siblings, Jim (Helen) Tait, Andrew (Heather) Tait, Sheena (Dean) Rowan and several dear nieces, nephews, and special friends. For the past 20 years, Liz devoted her life to social work in northern SK. Liz always gave so much and asked for so little in return and her compassion extended well past family and friends to her clients and colleagues. She loved the north and its people. Liz helped to improve the well-being and safety of vulnerable children and adults, and made an immense contribution to the lives of many dealing with abuse and addictions. She was committed to enhancing the quality of life of every individual she met so that they could reach their full potential. At the time of her death, Liz was looking forward to completing her BSW through the U of R. Elizabeth was tiny but mighty, a very strong, compassionate and forgiving spirit who empowered others. Her health and spirit had greatly deteriorated this last year. May she rest in eternal peace. ‘Take these broken wings and learn to fly - all your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise’ A Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life will take place on Saturday, April 12th at 10:30 am at the Nutana Legion (3021 Louise Street, Saskatoon).
