Sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear mom. Ethel was a special lady; kind caring, and confident.  It was nice to get reacquainted with her again the last few years at Sherbrooke. We had many conversations with and about her, Charlie, Mom (Phyl) and Dad (Russ). They had a long history together; so the stories came easily. Our family will miss her and her cheery disposition.

Growing up on the farm Ethel was my babysitter. I remember us riding the horse to school with our lunch buckets. When we moved to Saskatoon, she was a great companion when Dad was overseas. She looked after Ron and I. She was our protector going to school. She was pretty tough, she went up against the bullies and fought them off.  She would usually lose but she fought them anyways.
I remember that during the war, when the soldiers were in training they would hold dances for them and all the girls working in the city would be there as dance partners.  Ethel was working at Arthur Rose, maybe 17 years old, and went as a partner to one of these dances. I remember that while the dance was on, us guys all looked in the window to spy on Ethel.

Ethel was always a happy person. She was always 'up' and thought the best of everybody. We were golf partners for years and we always had fun on the golf course.

Ethel was a favourite 'auntie' to me. I admired her cheerful attitude and sunny nature. It was always a delight to spend time with her but I got to know her much better when she and I drove to Harvey's funeral together. The trip to Rosetown was lively, filled with Ethel's stories and jokes. It's a lovely memory I have of her.

Ethel was a very classy lady. If you ever met her you would never forget her. She always made you feel like you were old friends even though you just met. She never said anything ill about anyone as she loved all people.
     Ethel was always a very happy person no matter how she felt and made you feel the same.
     Everyone she has met will miss her and remember her.

I remember growing up and being in awe of Auntie Ethel.  She was a beautiful,  warm, powerhouse that captivated any room she was in.  I miss chatting with her when she'd call dad to say hello.
