

The Kolla family is sad to announce the passing of their brother and uncle, Father Francis Martin Kolla, at St. Ann’s Home on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Predeceased by his parents, Louis and Mary Kolla; brothers, Martin (Marie) (Anna), Michael (Mary), Joseph (Dina), Louis (Eileen), and John in infancy; sister, Sr. Carmelita Kolla, OSU; brother-in-law, Charles Stock. Francis is survived by his sisters, Mary Kolla, Rosalia Stock, and Cecelia (Gerald) Dewey; sister-in-law, Heather Kolla; Barbara Rollheiser, caregiver; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Francis was born at Cudworth, SK on April 24, 1931, attended school in St. Benedict and Bruno, and graduated from St. Peter’s College in Muenster, SK. He attended seminary at St. Peter’s Seminary, London, ON and Regina Cleri Seminary, Regina, SK, with added courses through Newman College, Edmonton, AB and St. Thomas More College, Saskatoon, SK. Francis’ Ordination took place May 11, 1957 at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Saskatoon, SK with Most Reverend Francis J. Klein as ordaining prelate. Fr. Francis Kolla served at Meacham, Marengo and Eatonia, St. John Bosco, Saskatoon, Our Lady of Grace, Dodsland, Our Lady of Lourdes, Coleville, St. Gabriel, Biggar and Cando, St. Peter the Apostle and St. Francis Xavier, Saskatoon, and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Martensville, retiring in 2005. Throughout his career Fr. Francis was the Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, the Spiritual Advisor for the Saskatoon Diocesan CWL and the parishes he served. He served on the Board of the St. Ann’s Senior Citizen’s Village and was instrumental in the building projects for the St. Ann’s residence and place. He will be remembered for his passion and care for people, and especially for visiting his parishioners. The Vigil for Fr. Francis will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, with both Services to be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK. Rite of Committal will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery – Priest Section. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Ann’s Senior Citizen’s Village.
